The search engine was replaced from the default QT to PCRE. Try to learn the basic RegEx and you will never look back to wildcard is my guess.

The foldernames are only in the interface. The foldernames in the files are still the originals. It makes sense.

First experiences with 0.5.0 running on 64-bit win 7:
- installed alongside 0.4.2, both versions running stably;
- installed the eng GB dictionary plus hyphen files - so far no problems but a full work-out due next week when I hit it with some format-shifted books;
- the new s/r box took a bit of getting used to, but I think it's pretty nearly beaten me into submission now;
- minor gripe - the s/r box is a bit small;
- un-proven suspicion - a leading space is slipped in by stealth in the Replace box? Will investigate and see if it's finger trouble on my part;
- minor wish - define a default string to be used as title when adding new blank files, eg, instead of 'Section000x' use 'chapter000x'.

So far, looking good - many thanks!

But not all sections a chapters
Sometimes I break a really huge chapter at a logical place: so that is a part.chapter
I also break out Part # sections to themselves.

A section is simply a section of anything. you are free to rename (and I do) and Sigil will find and adjust explicit references to match.
(Sigil blows it on local references, especially when you split a section. You end up with a FC "../Text" error. Almost always I find to be a "../Text#id_blahblah" )

There will be no naming scheme that fits everything 100% of the time. I break off the epigraph, title, epilogue, prologue, etc into its own sections (I feel it helps maintain a book like presence, because it prevents text from other areas flowing in), and I give them names accordingly. Sigil takes care of all the dirty work, so it only takes seconds to rename them how ever works best for you.

Problem is that Sigil users are not always able to change some settings on the computers they work on e.g. OS language. I prefer to use Sigil in English language even when it's not my native language. One reason is that when error occurs, it's easier to google solution for it in English because there are a lot more possible answers. On my own laptop my OS language is English and I use all the programs in English but sometimes users just can't change the OS language. Would be nice to have some kind of option that if the user would like to use Sigil in English or in OS language. Or maybe a menu where the user could select from different languages not depending on OS language.

I disagree that the number of people who would use this feature is small. I don't have any statistics to show you but I guess neither do you. Believe me, there is a big world outside the US also

This is a good example. Maybe not so common one but still a good example when the user can't change the OS language and wants to use programs in different language.

It wasn't so much finger trouble as brain trouble - I'd inherited a single space in the replace box from a previous escapade with Sigil 0.4.2.

Re. the naming of Sections - agree, there's never going to be a fixed scheme that is OK for everyone. I tend to build my ebooks using 'standard' named pages, then add the required number of new sections to make up the chapters. Being naturally lazy, I'd like to save the very little amount of time spent in re-naming from "Section" to "chapter" My thinking was that this was something that could be locally defined by users.

Missing Wildcards in Sigil 0.5.0 search

[QUOTE=theducks;1948351]
Code:
<img src="\.\./\[I\]Bilder\[/I\]/img\d+.jpg" />
That exactly hit's it.
Using wildcards to search for some pictures, which only differ in the filename will be possible with a simple String and a *
Using regex will lead to a most complex expression...

The new searchengine can "use" wildcards, if there is some internal translation of the userentry (serchstring).

And a tooltip for regex, which lists all regex special characters would be nice to have, since i don't use it often.

While I like the localization to other languges in general, I would recommend to leave the naming of the folders as they are, because references within the html files e.g. to pictures still need to point to the original name of the folder, not to the displayed one.

thanks for the great work, anyway
greetings
