[Old Thread] Why is Calibre so slow sending ebooks in emails?
When I send an email to my amazon Kindle via normal email program (read OS X Mail, Opera and Windows Live Mail) the message is sent as fast as other emails, but Calibre eternizes sending the same email with a normal book.
Sending 4 books in 4 emails with Calibre can be 10 minutes, and sending the same 4 emails with Mail in same computer, ten seconds. |

Try disabling your antivirus while sending the books. If that speeds it up back to normal, add Calibre to the AV program's trusted list.

I do not use antivirus. BTW I've tested it in one clean Windows and other OS X Lion virtual machines without success.
It seems an internal Calibre stuff. Perhaps problem could be I'm sending via Gmail... |

There's an intentional delay between sending multiple books when using certain mail providers, GMail included, to avoid being flagged as a spammer. I don't remember the actual delay time, but it is configurable somewhere in preferences->tweaks.

Go to Preferences -> Tweaks.
Then type "email" without quotation marks in "search for tweak" box and press enter. It must find the option "The number of seconds to wait before sending emails" option. Change value of public_smtp_relay_delay = 301 to the value you want, apply and restart calibre. |
