My library is 140K books, and is tolerable on a Synology DS213J (about the lowest-end NAS Synology sells today). Searches aren't very quick, but it does the job.

Hi vlad,

Thanks, that sound's excellent! It won't be a RPi. More like a VPS. Currently we're looking for the best way to integrate the uploaded e-books here @ MR to a calibre database. If that's all fine and done, I'll look into using COPS as our OPDS server.

Thank you for the continued developments. These new options in particular excite me. Is it possible to configure the new basic_authentication with multiple usernames and passwords? Which would then tie into the new user based configurations....

Actually I run it on a lowly Seagate Dockstar, which is only a Marvell 1200MHz CPU with 128 MB RAM. It runs fine with 20k books, as long as the on-the-fly thumbnail generation is off. This is what is the biggest problem on slow CPUs in my experience.

Let's not forget THE "killer feature" of COPS: multiple databases!

No need for 1 humongous database.
Just use a few specialised databases. (novels, sci-fi, comics, etc)

for COPS

This "COPS sticky thread" has 71 pages with useful information. The downside? 71 pages and counting!
It also includes too many different subjects in the same topic. This does nothing for promoting a software and to help users.

The solution?
Can we request a category on this forum just to COPS?
I can offer my time to organize that forum category.
I can also volunteer to split this topic by subject.
What to do?

By the way: I posted a separated topic on translations, hope you join in!

1 - It's all up to vlad69

2 - I personally am not a big fan of this. If you only read the last few pages and Vlad's website on cops(!), it is usually enough to solve your problem. If not then just ask the question on this forum and someone (usually vlad) will answer and solve your problem.

I was a frequent visitor of the Marvin forum before it got split up by subject. It was my feeling the thread lost momentum after that. I did not like it. Just my 2 cents.

The thread could be split up in (if it really must):
a - new COPS version! (yeah)
b - how to set up COPS (OS/database/library's)
c - problems with e-readers and or e-reader software
d - tips and tricks

But please no more

I have made an effort to transate COPS in Dutch (though I use COPS only in English ). I will have a look at this. Any improvement to my translation in COPS is always welcome.

I'm ok with it. I also agree with Mariosipad about not splitting too much this thread.

Beside that you have my blessing .

Off topic for everyone : my real name is Sébastien, my favorite nickname is vlad. You can use the one you prefer.

So now we need a category on this forum just for COPS under
"E-Book Software" - https://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=165

Can someone do that or ask "MobileRead Forums" and ask to move there those posts on COPS?

To split this topic as suggested will require moderator rights on that new forum too. I can do it but I'm sure at least one other user should have same moderation level to help management.
Sebastian should have it too!!

Hey there

as Sébastien suggested, I wouldn't split this thread. After we created a forum section, we would make this thread a sticky and then close it with the last post referring to the new forum section for new posts. If there are sticky-worthy elements contained in this thread, we can cut&paste them into new posts and then make them stickies.

I agree E-Book Software is the right parent section for COPS.

Any suggestions for the forum title and description (in similar fashion to the other sections)?

Sounds good! Hm, we still need a logo or a small pictogram. Also, beside Sebastien, anyone who would like to help moderate the section?
