It's aaaaLIVE!!!
well... where to start? originally they thought they were going to have to replace both top and bottom, but as it turns the top was in great shape!
recovery and pain management have been a biatch. they did such a shotgun approach for what works, it was crazy. I'm sure at some point I had enough stuff in me to take down a horse. due to that, barely eating and sleep was a joke, I have the tremors. pretty they will go away. it's interesting to watch the nurses, their though processes and the ones ready to be logical instead of completely walking the line. I'll post pictures later. be excited! |

I just realized that I didn't post the findings...
the adhesive was completely compromised and there were not one but TWO cysts in the bone under the prosthetic. the Doc said he could put the entire first joint of his thumb into the hole on the bigger one. and he's a BIG dude! I asked how that happens... "from liquids seeping into the cavity" |

So glad to hear from you, kk. And good that they only had to replace 1/2.
And, if it's from "liquids seeping into the cavity", just how did THAT happen? Get well, and enjoy the good meds. |

From what I understand, it's from where the adhesive failed, moisture had whicked in around it. Which, now that I think about it, makes me even more angry... at least one of the cysts was identifiable on an xray in Jan of 12 when the device was only 2 years old. So my take away is that it never was correctly sealed. Hmmmm
Anyway, nice to be seen! I managed to get myself pretty spun up and convinced I wasn't walking away from this one |
