HAPPY HOUR - byo Susan Boyle \:Britain's Got Talent
I love it when someone overcomes all the odds; which this lady has done. This is from the UK, and I am sure that we will get favourites(favorites?) from all round the world if we try. http://video.yahoo.com/watch/4863134/12964979 Have your booze, hooch, cask, cocktail, barrel or whatever at the ready. I had heard a snippet of her performance on news radio early yesterday morning when they were reporting on the show. She sounded really good but they only played a few seconds of her singing. An hour or so later when I listened to the entire video, I was blown away.
I never watch the American version of the British show (American Idol) but Simon Cowel's reputation for degrading people is notorious. On the video, when he asked Susan what her dreams were and she said she wanted to be a professional singer, he rolled his eyes and grimmaced. When he asked her why she thought she hadn't made it already (at age 47), she said because she was never given a chance. To that answer Simon rolled his eyes and grimaced with even more exaggeration. The faces in the audience showed similar disgust and amusement. They were all anticipating a good groan and laugh at Susan's expense and embarrassment. It took barely 5 seconds after that voice began emanating from her soul for the collective jaw drop of amazement to appear. Much egg on many faces, I'd say. And to Susan Boyle . . . You Go Girl! |

I count myself as cynical and avoid those "Talent" shows at all costs, but...wow...just wow! I think I was crying and smiling at the same time as I listened to that. They should just give her the competition right now.
