Spotify Invites (I have 4!)

Okay, so if you don't know what spotify is, it's a music application full of free, ad-supported music (very non intrusive and covers lots of popular stuff as well as classics). Works on Windows, Mac and Linux (through wine). Find out more here: https://www.spotify.com/en/help/faq/

I can only offer these invites if you're from one of the below countries:

Sweden, Norway, Finland, the UK, France and Spain. (Sorry our American and Canadian cousins

)

I have 4 invites to give away to the first people who post in this thread, one country per invite until they run out, so please state where you're from (and sorry, but no first posters for these invites, these invites are for those who participate in MR on a regular basis).

You can always use Grooveshark, completely free p2p and legal ad supported online music listening. Fully searchable, I love it almost as much as spotify (doesn't have the organisational tools of spotify)

I'm investigating moving everything into the 'cloud' after my HD crash and so far it's surprsing even me! And now I've just heard that Google are bringing out their own cloud-centric Operating System, I'm even more convinced we won't need Hard Drives and the like soon. Now if only people would start embedding Theora video in HTML5 pages, the video portion of my cloud-computing vision will be complete

Wow, these things were like Gold last year, now I can't even give them away!!!

Have you been using it? Their selection of Tom Waits and Pixies is impressive for a free service, along with some truly excellent samba and ambient tracks. I love it

actually, as i said i had forgotten about it, but i've just installed it and i'm listening to elbow (because that was in the first screen i saw and i've not yet played with it enough to know how everything works for finding specific tracks). so far i like the interface, seems relatively intuitive and i've managed to listen to a song, create a new playlist, add a title to it, create a playlist of the title currently playing, delete a playlist...

will have to compare to deezer which i like although the interface is sometimes a bit clunky for some things.

Was it? I can't remember, I only realised yesterday that I still had an account when I was investigating cloud solutions to music and found the Spotify email in my gmail.

So far I've managed to make playlists or found about 75% of the music I lost in my HD crash. There's some stuff I'll have to re-rip from CD, but this is a service I migght actually end up paying for. Viva La Cloud Computing!!!

i'm so glad you've managed to recover (most of) your collection ! i'd be so sad if i lost all my music.

although i suppose with deezer etc. i could find most of it again, like you, but i also have quite a lot of "demo" or autoprod tapes (luckily being digitised by a friend of mine, for posterity) / cds from bands who don't even exist anymore which i'm pretty sure are irreplaceable, and i'd be really sad to lose them.

hey, it says something about recommending music to friends, can you recommend me some samba playlists ?

Don't think those of us in the UK need an invite, do we?

I can't recall using one, and the FAQ page says:
"...it requires that you receive an invite to register unless you are in the UK."

It's an excellent service though, and I think it was MoeJoe that first alerted me to it - so a belated

from me for that.
