Another pic

Enclosed another pic from the file. As scaling of pdf:s is currently not possible on Iliad, scaling of the pdf file would be needed. Printing on A4 potrait to two A5 landscape would do it.

Hang on a tick: scaling is not possible? ... and here you have a photo of a page thats close to 212 x 280 mm shown on a screen thats something like 120x150. (212 x 280 is according to Acrobat grid ... document properties are a few decimals off...)

Now, how did that happen, if there's no scaling? Did you do any preprocessing? (I assume not.)

Query: the original file had page layout and magnification = default. I assume the iLiad PDF reader interprets that as 'single page' and 'fit page' ... does anyone know?

No zooming, I can buy. But no scaling I can't make out.

Query: is there a page somewhere that is not 3:4 proportions, but way off? That might cast some further light on the magnification part ...

EDITED: No, wait again ... that picture was from the second link, with already rescaled pages? ... That must be it ... I was looking at the first set of images, which has not been rescaled at all. Right?

There is no way to zoom in or out of the document atm. The iLiad always displays the page to fit into the display area. Scaling is done proprotionally.

... OK, so there's some ambiguity here: which document does the photo show? The first one, that is full size, or the second one that has been scaled to Iliad size?

I guess it would notmake a difference, since the pageproportions did not change. If the iliad fits the whole page on the display (which is about 12x15cm) or you print it to fit the same size, does not matter. There could be a differnce in imageresolutions and rendering times though.

Sorry, didn't notice the difference between the files. As "Tribble" said it does make no difference as the documents are scaled to fit the iliad screen. Zooming is not possible.

However for your interest I used the second file, but took some of the print margins of the original pdf file away by printing it to a new pdf with smaller paper size.

Thank you for testing. Is it readable? Could you please try the "Die Zeit"?

Spiegel is just about the size, which is still readable. Zeit full page size is not, but have a look at this video! Here you see how a newspaper is read.

Enjoy!

Thanks -- that probably explains one or two other questions I had about that photo, and which I at first suspected may be due to bugs in the PDF reader, or problems in the scaling process.

some more real life content

Hi, I'm interested in using the iliad to read scientific publications.

Could someone post pictures of the attached Nature Neuroscience PDF?

I would be eternally grateful!

Here are a couple of photographs. But they don't render well the readability. The camera had a zoom effect on the text, the original one is really small.

Thanks Herve.

That seems not very readable at all. Maybe when they get the PDF zoom to work, but then I am not sure how usable an pleasant it will be.

I hope someone is designing an A4 ebook...
