Have you noticed that all of a sudden it looks like if a book isn't free the minimum price is $2.01 instead of $0.01?

The Voice: New Testament, from Thomas Nelson Books.

Book Description
The Voice™ is the product of the best minds in this emerging generation of Christian leaders. Together they are helping young people fall in love with the Scriptures. Instead of confining God's Word in the framework of biblical criticism, The Voice™ highlights the beauty of God's communication to His people. In The Voice™, the voice of God is heard as clearly as when He first revealed His truth. This is the first-ever complete New Testament in The Voice™ translation. Writers include Chris Seay, Lauren Winner, Brian McLaren, Greg Garrett, David B. Capes, and others.

Features include:

* Bronze, highlighted text
* Screenplay-like format, ideal for public readings and group studies
* Devotional commentary
* Book introductions

Double check your country code - this usually means that Amazon thinks you are in Canada or another non-US country with a zero VAT, rather than in the US.

All non-US books are a minimum of $2 (essentially, they are all $2 more than the US prices), while some countries end up being more, due to addition of VAT.

That one looks interesting. I went to add it to the ever growing list of books I'll never get around to reading, but was informed that I already had it from about a week ago. I'm sure I didn't pay for it, so it must have been free last week as well.

And I think the title comes up as "Already Dead".

Must of been an Amazon glitch because I just checked and the $2.01 books are back to $.01. After reading that an analyst said that Amazon was losing $2.00 a book I thought that Amazon was trying to make it up by adding $2.00 to the inexpensive books.

Atomic Lobster Free Edition with Bonus Material ($0.01), by Tim Dorsey. There's no description yet (so I pulled in the one from the normal edition), but the file size says 558K and there is no indication that this is just a sample (after all, the book itself has been out a while and is only 371K). This one is a pre-order and won't be delivered until December 29, but I went ahead and one-clicked for my copy (if it does go down in price, it'll only be a penny less).

Book Description
Why is everyone rushing to flee Tampa on a cruise ship to hell?

Serge is back with a bullet, torn between homicide and souvenirs. So is Coleman, torn between getting hammered and getting more hammered. Then there's good ol' Jim Davenport, the E-Team, the Diaz Brothers, and Johnny Vegas, the Accidental Virgin, cranking up the fevered action as the pot boils over on a street called Lobster Lane.

It's reunion time in the Sunshine State, and we're not just talking the family jamboree of that blood-soaked criminal clan, the McGraws, whose nastiest, meanest member is finally released from prison and heads south bent on revenge. On top of it all, the government is covering up a growing list of mysterious victims across Florida who may or may not be connected to a nefarious plot being hatched against national security.

But wait! There's more on the horizon! Who is the oddly familiar femme fatale named Rachael? Is Serge wrong that guns, drugs, and strippers don't mix? What sets the Non-Confrontationalists off on a rampage? What finally brings Coleman and Lenny together? Will they succeed in building the biggest bong ever? And can Serge surf a rogue wave to victory?

So batten the hatches, don the life jackets, and take cover as all these questions and more are answered in the latest adventure from the acclaimed author of Hurricane Punch.

MetaGame, by Sam Landstrom

Book Description
Life is a game, literally. Winners earn immortality, while losers are condemned to aging and death. D_Light, a gifted player, knows this all too well and he-s willing to do anything to win-even kill. It is no wonder then that when given the chance to enter a MetaGame-an exclusive, high-stakes, anything goes contest-he-s quick to jump at the opportunity. The MetaGame starts out well enough for D_Light, the first quest being to hunt down a dangerous fugitive, but through his own ambition, the tables turn and D_Light finds himself the renegade. Now, D_Light pits himself against his world to find the truth behind -The Game- and must decide between winning it and saving what-s left of his humanity.

This 122,000 word (~400 page) novel blends emerging political and cultural trends, such as gaming culture, globalization, and the ever-increasing hegemony of corporations, with technological trends, such as genetic engineering, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality. Emerging from this stew is an original world for you to explore through the point of view of its many "players".
