Kindle Software Update 4.1.1 - Page 2

Weird thing. It doesn't download, and if I install it manually when kindle restarts the version is still 4.1.0.

Which Kindle models is this update for? I have a Kindle Keyboard and the version is still 3.4. Update Your Kindle is greyed out and when I downloaded manually and dragged the update into the root directory as per the instructions it still doesn't show up. (I downloaded 4.1.0 as instructed.) Update Your Kindle is still greyed out.

This is not for the Kindle Keyboard. The latest firmware for that is 3.4.

For once we in the UK get something you USAians don't - the update includes a "read for free in Waterstones" feature, including the use of the clock image someone posted earlier. See here for info: http://www.the-digital-reader.com/20...e-update-adds/

A firmware upgrade will NEVER change the "major version" of the firmware. ie, a 4.x firmware version will never apply to a device running firmware 3.x

Because it's true. Or at least it has been true through the entire history of Kindle firmware thus far.

Thanks, folks. I never really thought about things like firmware updates for my Kindle until I read about updates here. Good to know i don't have to worry about it.
