Character conversion issue
This is a newbie question - but I did a search on the forum and couldn't find an answer (probably just using the wrong search terms).
I have been using Calibre to convert HTML files for use on my Sony reader. For the most part it works fine - except I have been having an issue with a lot of characters "failing" to convert, and so I get the upside down '?' character to represent those. Most of these have been the "turning" quote marks (as opposed to the straight apostrophe or double-quote marks). Is there an option somewhere, or something I can set up a conversion of these characters in the HTML to standard quotation marks when I convert the e-book? |

This will happen if your source HTML does not declare its encoding or uses incorrectly encoded numeric entities. Open up the HTML and locate one of these bad characters and post the relevant extract here
