Indenting paragraphs of books on a Kindle Paperwhite

I'm new to Calibre and am trying to figure out how to properly format books for my Paperwhite. A lot of the books I download either have no line spacing between paragraphs or no indent on the first line of paragraphs. In Calibre, I can indent paragraphs by adding body{text-indent:2em;} to the stylesheets, but when I convert files to MOBI (from EPUB) the indents go away and they don't appear when I send the files to my Kindle. Does anyone have any ideas for fixing this?

The easy thing to do is to check the "remove space between paragraphs" box on the "Look and Feel" page of the conversion options. This will sort things out in the vast majority of cases.

Try adding p, div {text-indent: 2em;} to the stylesheet instead.
