So where the heck is the Sony Reader's new firmware?!?
February's come and gone... As well as March and soon April. And still no new firmware from Sony.
sigh. Anyone have any inside info on when this may happen? (Not really expecting an answer, just hoping to see it sometime soon). |

Nothing yet. Maybe we should organize a campaign?

Rabble rabble! Good luck on beating our threads. We take pride in our disgruntled whining.

I decided to bump this to the front page. Let's see if it gets Sony's attention.

I want no upgrade before it's perfect. But I really wish that when vendors give projected dates of releases, they could give reasonably accurate ones. Is it really that hard?

What type of upgrades would you all be looking for?
For me it would be much better support for PDFs |

hrmm...if recent events are any indication then we shouldn't be focusing on the firmware, but on the more important issue of why other readers just aren't up to snuff. We can highlight side issues such as the scandalous booklight usage in some areas or how well it plays audio.
We can end being bitter about the kindle, but ultimately clinging to our rtf and lrf file formats.... Ok...couldn't help myself..... |

My guess is you have to use the Library application for that, it already has an option to check for updates. Which means you need a Windows computer and a registered Library application. Something you can only achieve by committing fraud if you're not resident in the US. (You really have to check that checkbox in 2.0 or select either US or Canada in version 2.1).
