Thankfully both hubby's and my readers are fine (bought a week ago, almost to the hour!) - I bought a cheap book from Waterstone's site (the awfulness of it actually doesn't surprise me as much as it should) to test, and everything went swimmingly.

Books on Board certainly have Anathem, which is where I got mine from - it's US site but they don't care where you are.

Hi all,
got my PRS-505 today, and the first DRMed ebook I bought from Waterstones made the Reader crash. I then bought another from WH Smith, and no problems at all. How shall I interpret this?

To be precise, the Reader does not reboot, but simply hangs after showing me the cover of the book.

One thing I have noticed is that reading the book is very very slow on Adobe DE, on both Mac and Windows (e.g. 7 seconds to jump to any of the chapters in the table of contents). Could this be relevant?

I am using the PRS-505 firmware 1.2.00.18050 on my Mac with the MacOS version of Adobe Digital Editions and Calibre 0.4.101 . The Reader has been activated on a Windows Vista.

Since you're having problems on both your reader and on your computers with Adobe DE, it's most likely a problem with the book purchased from Waterstones. Can you re-download the book and try again--in case there was some corruption that happened in the initial download? (Don't know if Waterstones allows this.) If that doesn't work, I'd contact Waterstones and let them know you have a problem with the book.
