Here you go. Just start a command prompt and type "textify". It's self-documenting.

Thanks.
BookCreator uses a very similar macro provided by "comtrjl" to convert _Italics_ to Italics in addition to many other editing tools.
Just import the text file and run menu option "Tools|Italicize Text"

How would I use caliber for formatting like that?

Or would I be better off with GUItenmark?

EDIT: I've got the PG dvd.
Having better formatting would be cool

Similar(I guess) request.
This time I need to replace words/sentences that are underscored with italics.
For example:

I need to replace to I need to replace

Thanks!

astra,

You might also give the free Interparse4 a try. I think it will do what you want.

I think...I think I managed.

Replacing

I used
Quote:
Method 2: Use Key Combinations in the Find and Replace Dialog Box

1. On the Edit menu, click Replace.
2. Delete any existing text from the Find what and Replace with boxes.
3. Click in the Find what box.
4. Press key combinations such as CTRL+U, CTRL+I, or CTRL+B to move through underline, italic, or bold formatting choices. Each time you press the key combination, the format changes. When you select an existing format, such as Bold, it changes to its opposite (Not Bold). Selecting it again clears the option completely.
5. Click in the Replace with box.
6. Repeat step 4 to select the format you want to apply.
7. Click the Find Next, Replace, or Replace All button.
Note:
I would like add a small clarification for step 6 (if you are as silly as I am, probably it is easy to understand from the instructions but I missed the point).
I thought it is fairly straight forward.
CTRL+U in "Find"
CTRL+I in "Replace"
click Replace All and that it is. No! It converted all underlined text to Italic, yes, but it was left underlined nonetheless.

To convert it from underlined to italic
In "Replace" click CTRL+U twice, so it says "No underline" beneath "Replace with" command line. Then click CTRL+I.

I find it a very useful program; it's normally the tool I start off using when I begin to create a book from a PG text file.
Try http://sno2.iwarp.com/ebook-faq/documents/textify.html
