Problem with device freezing up

Hi

I purchased two of these devices, my wife is having a fit, ever time she reads a book, it will freeze up along the way, unfornately you have to plug the device into the wall to reset the unit, I traded here my reader and it does the same thing, anyone know what she could be doing wrong ??

Does it freeze up for a few seconds or completely lock up?

Is it freezing while reading a particular book or have you tried different books and get the same problem?

Have you tried the books shes having a problem with on your 950? If she has a problem and you don't with the same books, then I suggest returning her 950 for a new one.

Actually demo units are exactly the same as normal retail units just put into demo mode with an unusual key combo...

I wouldn't think it would make no difference, whether these are demo's are not, except the version is different, also this happens on other books, pdf's or epub. You'll be reading and all a sudden the book completely will freezes up.

It could mean they're running an earlier firmware than RTM, they may be shipped through a different channel.

If it's Sony that's told the OP the units are demos then that could mean they are not eligible for service. Sony may send out demos for free/reduced price to retailers to help market the product on the condition that they're not sold. It means if it is faulty then there's not a lot that can be done.

May be the case with 950s though I doubt it but with 350 and 650s in the UK, Sony don't send out specific demos separately, they are included with the standard deliver and a set of instructions as to method of putting in demo mode.

In any case, I'd be more concerned about being sold a demo without being informed as I'd expect a decent discount if buying an already used unit.
