A major western, filmed many times (four times just in the silent movie era!), most recently in 1951 with Alan Ladd as Whispering Smith, in his first western and his first technicolour movie.

The first edition was illustrated in colour by Nathan Wyeth, famous painter of the West, and also a celebrated architect. These images are still in copyright, and have been omitted.
