stand alone or chapters?
My new collection has 7 stories in it. They were originally designed as stand-alone stories for bedtime reading, but sometimes events in one story affect events in a later story so there definitely is a reading sequence.
target age group for this is 4-6 or 7. Should I leave these as stand alone stories, or should I label them a chapters? (Scrivener keeps wanting to label them as chapters, but I can edit that out in Sigil when I'm creating the final epub file.) |

They are standalone, so leave them as be. IMO. If each was a novel that is what you would do, I see this as no different.

I agree with VydorScope. If the stories are resolved within themselves there is no need to join them together. And a character just remembering something that happened in another story doesn't mean they have to be linked. Stephen King had two characters in Delores Clairborne sense each other during an eclipse of the sun but one of them didn't really appear as a character til Gerald's Game and I can't recall if she even remembered the event in D.C. during the course of the novel. Certainly it didn't really have anything directly to do with her problem in GG.

Stand alone. Scrivener is just guessing. You know.

Scrivener can be a pain in the *ss. I'm glad I know enough about Sigil to be able to edit the epub Scrivener puts out!
