Forbes/OLPC announces the XO-3!
OLPC XO-3
Yep, the same people who bungled the OLPC and trashed the very concept of the OLPC XO-2 NOW announces the XO-3. They "hope" to release, or at least threaten such, by 2012. And for a mere $75! Yeah. Right. Pull the other leg, it's got bells on! Derek |

Wait what happened to the OLPC v2... with the dual two mode touch screens that was going to cost $100? Has that been released yet?
Why are they talking about v3? BOb |

The XO-3 is now their future "next generation" device. We'll see what comes of it. Last I heard, the company was having some serious financial problems, and had layed off about half their staff, etc. That's probably why the XO-2 was scrapped. They don't have the cash right now to support development of anything new, and are putting out an upgraded version of their current model because it's cheaper/easier to develop. |

Negroponte hasn't lost any of his knack for showmanship, that's for sure.
