TOC: Maximum number of links in Calibre?

I recently had a client whose book had 125 chapters. The file seemed to convert fine, and the TOC was visible, but the links didn't work in mobi or epub.

I increased the number from 50 to the exact number of TOC links, and it didn't work. I changed it to a higher number, didn't work.

Is there a real maximum? If not, what was I doing wrong?
