Amazon Book Covers Not Downloading

I have a Kindle Paperwhite 6th generation with 3g. On Monday 8/8/16 I downloaded a book using my Kindle via 3g. The book download directly to my Kindle without the book cover. I called Amazon and spoke to a "Kindle Specialist." All my other book covers previously purchased prior to 8/8/16 still had the book covers. The "Kindle Specialist" had me do the following:
a) Factory Reset
b) Install the latest update (v2 5.8.2)
c) De-Register then Re-Register the device
d) Reboot the Kindle

The net effect - not only did it not solve the problem it also removed all my book covers once the books were re-downloaded to my Kindle after the Factory Reset. I have about 150 books on my Kindle all from Amazon and all directly downloaded to my Kindle via 3g. I hung up on the "Kindle Specialist." I called back the next day 8/9/16 and the Kindle Specialist told me this is an Amazon sever problem and not my Kindle. Amazon will call me when the problem is fixed. It is now 8/17/16 and I have not heard anything from Amazon. I don't think Amazon will ever be able to fix this problem.

Is there another solution for me to get the book covers? Any help would sure be appreciated. If anyone does have a solution then please provide step by step instructions with any software that you recommend. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on a Dell XPS 8500 Desktop.

Well that lets us know it wasn't user error.
Sorry being on Amazon's side, I don't think there is anything to do.
Now do not expect an immediate response from Amazon. It may be a week or two,
In the meantime, I guess you could use list view and not worry about covers.

z1chess, that's interesting, did you ever manage to resolve the issue? It definitely sounds like a server issue to me. The first thing I would do after a factory reset would be to try and re-download the books again to the Kindle and if the cover doesn't appear there, try the Kindle app on a PC and see if it appears there. If it does that would most likely suggest it's something to do with your Kindle and not the server.

If the same thing happens there too then it's a server issue and only Amazon can fix it.

The other option you could do would be to load Calibre and de-DRM on your PC, there's links here in the forum, connect your Kindle to your PC, enter the serial number in the de-DRM plugin and then drag a couple of books in and see if the cover appears there. If it does then the cover image is in the ebook and that again would suggest it's more of a problem in your Kindle not reading the cover. You could convert it to a MOBI extension (removing DRM) and re-apply the cover manually and see if that fixes it but you would lose things like sync to cloud, annotations etc, but that would be a possible way of getting them back.
