ONYX BOOX i86 HDML PLUS or Icarus Illumina XL?
I've been reading reviews and watched countless videos going over all the options and it's mind numbing!! LOL
I finally settled on either the ONYX BOOX i86 HDML PLUS or Icarus Illumina XL. The one video that reviewed the i86 seemed like the lastest version has a much better resolution and looks a lot faster has the front light and the touch screen now. So looks like a no brainer to get the i86 over the XL. Just wanted to run it by you guys to make sure I'm not missing something? Right now I view mainly PDFs on my ipad mini. I scan in text books and read them on the mini. It works fine but my eyes are getting very tired looking at the LED screen and want to move away from it. As a 3rd option, at the end of my research I saw the Onyx BOOX N96 9.7. Which is semi out of my price range but if money was not a factor would you guys go for this one? |

Hi,
I have a Onyx M92 (9.7") and I read many technical PDF files. It's possible to read this documents with a 6" or 8", but really, a bigger screen is an advantage. I crop the file (with the Onyx's PDF reader) and I can read in portrait or landscape mode. Now, I'm reading the user guide for Beamer : http://www.ctan.org/pkg/beamer in landscape mode (I've just changed my glasses and I prefer this for the moment) but in landscape mode is good too. |

Randy11: 2 questions...
1) Can you view pdfs 2 pages side by side in landscape mode? 2) With the OS are there apps for Evernote and/or Toodledo? Do they work? Thanks for your input! |

The Onxy thread could be a good source of information : https://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=220. For a M96 device, I found this : Quote:
The last Onyx devices came with the Onxy's Neoreader. It's a evolution of the Onyx's PDF reader of M92. Many options are available. You have an example of this reader here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WeiE5DU880 Last edited by Randy11; 05-21-2016 at 09:26 AM. |
