Links in footnotes don't work

Hello,

I am from the Bronx, NY, USA. I have an old Kindle (even before Paperwhite) and I am reading a book with many footnotes. Many of the footnotes are URLs that link to sites on the Web. When I started the book, the links were working fine. Now, however, I keep getting the message that Verizon can't find or load the website. This is now happening with every link. I am not very tech savvy about this but if anyone can help me, I would be very grateful.

Are you sure that you're connected to the network? I'll also echo Cin's question of "which Kindle"?

How long has it been since the links DID work? Long enough that the target sites may have changed their website, thus invalidating old links? That happens more often than you would think, especially if there was any significant time between when they DID work and when they don't.
