Sigil Cover image Question
After going nuts in Apple Pages, Sigil is a breeze. Just a few simple ( I hope) things I need to know .
Cover Image I inserted the book cover image as the tute says right before the first sentence in the first chapter, the image is saved in the image folder added the semantics but when I validate it says This resource is present in the OTF but not reachable ( unused) Second, I'm trying to save the book as an .sgf but epub is the only displayed save option. ??? |

I sawfrom a tutorial that there was an option to save as an .sgf I thought this was the native sigil format just like IBookAuthor has its native file. So now I see to reopen select the Epub Sigil created and open that, thx
anything on the cover image problem I'm having? RD |

As far as the image question: are you sure you saved the epub and ran the validation? The warning you're getting would make sense if the image was in the "Images" folder and marked with the "Cover Image" semantic but not yet used in any (x)html file (<img alt="" src="../Images/cover.jpg" />). But if you say you inserted the image into the book... that warning shouldn't be occurring. Regardless... most people have a separate (x)html file (the very first in the list in Sigil's Book Browser) that only contains the cover image and nothing else for dealing with cover images. This page is should also be marked with the "Cover Image" semantic. Last edited by DiapDealer; 05-30-2012 at 09:19 AM. |

Thx for clearing up the .sgf jazz. As far as the image I did as the tutee said to put the cursor before the first sentence in the first chapter or .xhtml page then ran the validation and got that msg. So do I create another .xhtml page, insert the image? Do I have to renumber or do I call the file name a new name and THEN use the semantic for the cover?
thx RD |

You don't have to renumber. Name the new file anything you want (as long as the name's not already taken), then just drag that new, blank file to the top of list (drag 'n' drop) and insert your image (make sure that the image shows up). You can verify that the file's marked with the "Cover Image" semantic, but current versions of Sigil will automatically tag it as "Cover Image" if it's first, and contains one and only one image.
You may need to do some styling to center the image and size it properly, but that's beyond my basic online tutorial skills to describe. Last edited by DiapDealer; 05-30-2012 at 09:32 AM. |

The error says. You have an Image file that you are not using on any page. So you have 2 choices: 1) Do you not want the Image to show? Delete the entry from the Book Browser Images list. 2) Place the image onto 1 or more pages (Using Ctrl-Shift-I) |
