Google Play version of G-Pad announced
Quote:
It's basically a 8.3" Nexus 7.2. Edit: sells for $350, a bit steep in my opinion, $299 would be more reasonable. Last edited by afv011; 12-10-2013 at 04:37 PM. |

I assume firmware upgrades will coincide eventually between the two devices. The G Pad was available for $279 a week ago at BB. Talk already of getting KitKat on it as well soon over at xda.

The device linked by the original poster is the "Google Play" edition of the LG G-Pad. It's listed as Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box. The BestBuy LG G-Pad is not a "Google Play" tablet and runs Android 4.2.2.
I don't know what advantage it will be to have a "Google Play" edition tablet vs. a non-"Google Play" tablet. |

For the Google edition phones (S4, HTC One), it is possible to convert a non-Google edition phone into a Google edition one, so it might be possible to do the same with the G-Pad. Once the factory images for the G-Pad are up (if they're not already), the folks at XDA will certainly give it a shot. |

It's certainly worth doing, if the hardware is the same and the price is $50 cheaper ...
