A short novel that will give the reader the impression that it may have been written by Maurice Maindron (1857-1911) for children and young adults. Quite different from the atmosphere of lustful violence and cynicism typically found in such novels as Saint-Cendre, M. de Clérambon, Blancador, Florimond, or Le Tournoi de Vauplassans.

The original scanned pdf found on the online site of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (Gallica) is of better quality than expected and has some nice illustrations (not reproduced in the e-book).
