Mentor Lite - anyone to report on it?

Astak has Mentor Lite for $249. I wonder if anyone has bought it and can report on the device. I'm interested in the usual - real speed, format support, language support, ease of use. I can read marketing materials, but they are just not the same as people's experience.
A comparison to 6" EZ Reader would be most welcome!

I'm interested too. My birthday is today and my parents flew all the way from my home town, which is about 3,000 miles / 5,000 km from here. So now I have a few bucks to be spent on an eBook reader device, or whatever they're called.
I'm torn between the EZ pocket pro and the Mentor. If you have it, please post your experiences here.

Robert seems to be very busy with the Pocket Pro, and he doesn't seem to have the time to devote to promoting the Mentor Lite.

Without some promotion from someone, I don't expect anyone here to buy one.

Dear All:

Please remember that Astak has two factories. They are not exactly fond of us for this so we keep it low key. It is NOT a matter of time... it is a matter of one or the other factory getting furious over this arrangement. EACH wants our total and undying devotion.

That is why we use two websites and the www.astak.com wesbite is for the Mentor Lite.

BOTH factories will have booths at CES and that situation is worrisome enough.

You will note that the Cool-er was really a Mentor Lite Version 1. We did not try to sell it because we did not see it as fast enough and it lacked MP3. Give a little credit to me for NOT trying to hawk it. We waited and the waiting paid off with the Mentor Lite Version 2 (now with the Epson controller and MP3). It is better and the Cool-er has kind of run its course (no offense to Cool-er fans everywhere).

So, we are making it available but we see the EZ Reader line as better at this moment in time to really talk up. It does not mean we do not like the Mentor Lite 2... we do... but at this moment in time the Pocket PRO is, in our opinion, Astak's short-range future. Its price and its features are pretty amazing and it is capturing attention from the press. Also, we had the paint wrinkling problem... meaning we needed to be here for making things right and assuring all would be taken care of.

So, the Mentor Lite 2 is a wonderful 6 inch and does a great job. We think anyone who purchases it will LOVE it. What we expect is that the factory that makes the Mentor Lite 2 will be unveiling new models at CES and we will weigh them then.

Right now, the EZ Reader line is what got this Astak Forum going and is the center of attention.

Dear Silverraven:

We already have a 6 inch EZ Reader Basic. The full name of the Pocket PRO is "EZ Reader Pocket PRO". ALL of the EZ Reader line is made by the same factory.

You can see and purchase the EZ Reader Basic 6 inch at: www.theEZreader.com.

It is a fine device and is a splendid eBook Reader. It does not have all of the features that the Pocket PRO has... but everything you would need is there and many people on this forum love it. I have not heard anyone say a single thing bad about the EZ Reader Basic. It does have MP3 and the screen is really bright and vibrant!

There will not be a revamped "EZ Reader Basic PRO" with all the features of the Pocket PRO and then some (but in 6 inch) until likely January or February. We use the word "PRO" to mean that it has a lengthy list of great features on it.
