Bathtime reading
Short of inventing a waterproof reader, what do you do?
I've dropped a few dead tree bookis in the water, and don't dare take my reader.... I have a few second hand pbooks for bathtime, but it does break up the flow of a book only having one session of reading per day for that particular book. I'd do a poll on this if I could work out how. |

I read my Kindle in the rain at times by putting it in a ziplock bag, as others have suggested. There are special waterproof cases, but they just seem an unnecessary expense to me. If anything, I find it easier to do than with a paper book. Try turning the page of a paper book while in a bag! :-)
Which makes me wonder... do the new touchscreens work OK in bags, or do they get confused by the weird refraction off the plastic? |

I would say that the Kindle is water resistant but not waterproof.

I do not take baths. I shower, and being a guy, it takes less than 5 minutes.

I use an Aquapac for my bathtime reading. It is not possible to use the touchscreen through it, but I just cue the book up before putting it in the bag and then use the physical page turn buttons on my Sony 650.

I just take my PRS-650 with me into the bathtub. I don't see there any greater risks than e.g. to drop it onto the pavement while waiting for the train etc.

I used to use the ziploc bag but now I just use my old Kindle 2 unwrapped because I wouldn't care that much if it were destroyed.

I rarely bath, but when I do I just risk it and read the Kindle naked (don't go there...) and have never had a mishap yet (touches wood). |
