sorry if it is explained elsewhere,
but I dont know what's the use of the field labeled "Book 1.00" in the Convert panel (under the Series field)

That is the series index (number within series). It is preset to 1 if a series name is not defined. It allows fractional numbers so that books can be inserted between the integral numbers if a book later comes out that fits in that position.

What Itimpi said, just be aware that formatting fractional numbers is iffy with the Save template (you can't format both sides of the decimal at the same time. "09.23 title" is not doable. it will come out 9.23 title, 0r lose the decimal point, or...)

You can also set the book number to 0, which is what I use when there is a series item that has no order.
