New Statistics for eBook Readers

If you go to my blog (www.robertbEZ.blogspot.com) I have posted the latest statistics on the growth of the eBook Reader industry over the next 3-4 years. It is fairly amazing. The growth about doubles every year.

The statistics are from the Yankee Group... a research firm for eBook Readers.

Anyway, I think you will find it very interesting as to where the industry is headed!

Robert, interesting article. Doubling every year is amazing! If and when there are readers in the $150 range it will certainly add to the explosive growth.

Now, the latest is that prices may approach a sweet spot of $150 in the next five years (Yankee Group). Old roadblocks like cloudy touchscreens are giving way to clear-as-a-bell touchscreens.

The website Astak is going to develop should be interesting to look at when it opens. This overall seems like a great way for Astak to tap into a wider feed of the market and of course look after its customers with more content. The supply of lyrics of songs is a great idea, those these are usually quite prevalent on the internet (and can easily be cut and pasted into a file for the reader). Would lyrics be free downloads? Otherwise I am not sure these would sell well IMHO.

And now Astak is going to have a website where you can purchase eBooks, Newspapers, Periodicals, Lyrics to Songs, and get free eBooks for free!

That was my initial response also to the lyrics guy. But, he is talking books of lyrics! Stuff like Beatles Lyric Book, Rolling Stones Lyric Book, Animals Lyric Book, Queen Lyric Book, etc.

There would be a cost. Have no idea yet what it might be. We are just trying to be different and bring another dimension or two to our website!

If it is books of lyrics then that sounds a wonderful idea! That people may pay for, especially if they have indexes and nice book covers, etc.

Looking forward to seeing this new website dimension when the doors open. Hope it goes well.

Most of those lyrics you mentioned, perhaps all, are still under copyright and cannot be placed in a book like that without permission for the copyright owners.

My experience is that books of lyrics aren't any more accurate than what is available for free all over the net. I am not talking about illegal bittorrents but normal up-front web sites, plus many come with chords and tab music and some even allow you to transpose to the key you want. How can sell something that is so readily available in better form?

I cannot announce a new eBook store yet. It has to be finally approved by Google (as one of the sources of content). This has to remain a rumor UNTIL it is approved for release. Very, very soon!
