The difference between ProMedia reader and Booq Avant is the sticker. They both are the Qisda reader made by the BenQ subsidiary.

The Orizon is now pictured on the Bookeen website:
http://www.bookeen.com/en/ There is more detail, but still no launch date or price, nor any description of how the touchscreen works. |

Depending on how they change the software/firmware to make it touch-friendly, this could be my Nook replacement. I'm disappointed that Sony didn't add at least WiFi to its 6" device.

Sipix currently has less contrast and less DPI than the Vizplex Eink film used in the current Nook.

You don't happen to know if the Sipix screens are based on plastic substrate rather than glass? That would make them more durable compared with E-Ink. I've already read in this forum that Sipix has plastic screens and other sources told me that devices produces so far have glass screens, but no one knows for sure.

You are wrong. The Sipix black is blacker than on eInk, so even if th white is more gray than eInk, the contrast is the same, or event a little better. And for the DPI, they are exactly the same.

Oh thank you. Yes the DPI in the 6 inch is the same. I misread the 6 and 9 inch numbers. The background is definitely grayer with sipix , so it is not a good alternative for folks who think vizplex page is too gray.

I had the BenQ in hand and really like the touchscreen. Apart from a slight lag, it works fine and has no influence on the contrast and sharpness of the screen. The screen quality itself is up to personal taste, I guess.

The saying better late than never may not work for Bookeen here. This device is 5 months too late. Kindle, Sony and Pocketbook have all raised their game.
