Need advise to set up sd card for cm7

I have picked up an 8gb 6class card and want to have a go at setting it up to boot from.

Can someone point me to a detailed thread of instructions for a novice to set up an sd card to run the NC.

I see many recommend cm7, is the consensus that this is best to use?
How do I prepare the SD card? Does it get formatted in the NC or is it best done from your PC? Is it partitioned.

CyanogenMod 7 Stable Release (Android 2.3, Gingerbread) is probably the best all around Android for the Nook Color at the moment.

All you do is follow the instructions and image the card with an image made specifically for your card size. The imaged SD card will be bootable and have four partitions. The first and fourth partitions will be FAT32, and the other two partitions will be Linux partitions.
