Connecting to PC
I am having a horrid time with the iLiad Reader Edition.
I have tried everything I can come up with to connect the iLiad to my PC (or a selection of other PC's and Mac's). Nothing seems to work. I have tried to connect using the USB cable via the hub thing. I have tried Ethernet. I have tried plugging directly into my router using CAT5 cable. No joy. When I plug in the USB cable the PC says that it does not recognise the device and the device is faulty. The iLiad comes up with the connected to PC... screen for a few seconds then goes back to the Device Manager screen. When I unplug the USB from the PC the Connected to PC... screen pops up again for a few seconds then closes once more. There is no sign of the iLiad as a connected drive in My Computer. I have tried settings for Networking. I have tried every setting I can find. Nada. Has anyone got a hint or 2 please? |

I think I had the same problem. In my case it was due to I try to connect to the computer when I had an open book in the Iliad.
So 1.- Turn on the liad. 2.-Press the "device manager" key (2nd from the top in the left upper corner). The device manager window appears in the Iliad display. 2.-Connect it with the computer (previously you must have installed the Iliad software in it). 3.-Then autmotically appear in the Iliad screen a message "connectedt to PC" o something like that. Sorry for my english. |

Tried these procedures
Thanks for the reply . Your English is as good as mine!!! And I'm came from there!
Tried these fixes - which were the ones that iRex advised. Same results. The screen shows Connected to PC for a few seconds then the PC informs me that the device is not known and the screen goes back to Device Manager. Unlike the iRex support the problem has not gone away. Other sugestions gratefully received and tried. D |

I'm having the same problem, it is so frustrating. Why did they have to make the connection to PC so complicated?
I've given up and am putting my books on a compact flash card and reading from that, the only problem with that is it uses up battery life. There is some mention on the fictionwise size of a ink reader coming out that will support the ereader format. I'm hoping that it will also support mobipocket. That would be perfect! |
