Zech, Paul: Deutschland, dein Tänzer ist der Tod (german) v1. 30.04.2019

Paul Zech (1881-1946), der 1933 aus Deutschland nach Argentinien floh, wurde vor allem als expressionistischer Lyriker bekannt. Auch wenn er als Nachdichter von François Villon ("Ich bin so wild nach deinem Erdbeermund") noch einigen posthumen Ruhm erlangte, ist er heute doch weithin vergessen. Sein bedeutender Roman "Deutschland, dein Tänzer ist der Tod", der erst 1981 aus seinem Nachlass veröffentlicht wurde, hat dies nicht verdient: Trotz einiger formaler Schwächen muss er zu den wichtigsten Werken der antifaschistischen Exilliteratur gezählt werden. Episodenhaft beschreibt er den Widerstandskampf vor allem der gewerkschaftlichen Arbeiterbewegung von der Zeit der Machtergreifung Hitlers an bis etwa ins Jahr 1937. Nur mit Erschütterung kann man die Schilderungen des Terrors und der Folterhöllen der SA- und SS-Schergen lesen. Nicht minder eindrucksvoll entlarvt Zech aber auch die Verstrickung bürgerlicher und intellektueller Kreise in den Aufstieg des NS-Systems; so setzt etwa Kapitel XXVIII geradezu satirisch den von den Nazis als "Epiker der Auslandsdeutschen" gerühmten Schriftsteller Josef Ponten in Szene.
