Well it didnt work for me (1.6 or 1.7) The book is already drm'd but can't change or decrypt it regardless of what I try. Opens fine in K4PC.

The scripts meant for topaz to html conversion really need to be run in a particular order and will not work on files where the drm has already been removed (as far as I know).
You probably should ask on the Dark Reverser's new blog for help since it is against the rules to really provide guidance on how to use tools of this sort on this list. |

DRM Removal from Kindle
Ok gang,
Here is a link I recently found. http://nyquil.org/archives/1235-Conv...-Possible.html Now, I myself have tried the steps that are mentioned in the above article and both times it has worked (I have only converted 2 books so far). Here is my quandary. . . Do these steps mentioned in the article above strip the DRM OR just convert it to MOBI format with DRM ( mobidrm.) |

This script removes the drm and changes the file extension. Since Amazon ebooks are mobipocket to begin with (except for a few topaz format books) a true conversion is not needed.

Okay, I broke down and tried the 2.0 script for the first time (hadn't tried any of the previous versions). There is a lot of work involved. First fixing the readme file so I could actually read it then the scripts themselves take a while (not too long). Converting the HTML to ePUB then fixing the results in Sigil (I only fixed the chapter headings and one name that kept being misspelled in the conversion).
While I'm grateful for all the work done to create these scripts but I'm happy I have a Kindle and very few Topaz books, so I don't really have to go through this often, if at all. |

But it sounds like there are errors? Is this true for most tiles and is it prevalent throughout each title. Because if it will take a ton of work, the alternatives may be still tempting for many. |

You just kind of have to go for it and if it doesn't work help with the troubleshooting. For some technical books it may be well worth the extra trouble but for casual reading, I don't think I'll bother since I have many Kindle book reading options (but that's just me ). |

The test one I tried worked. The one I bought by accident converted pretty well, but a bit of format issues. Still readable in epub format though..
