Having an issue installing the ScreenSavers package onto my Kindle Keyboard 3G (3.4.2) w/o SO.
1. Installed the JB from 'snapshot' (v0.13.N) - Successful Install 2. Try to install the SS package (ss-0.47)- kindle tells me that the update was successful but when I put the device to sleep it is still showing the default SS images.
Any Ideas what would cause the SS package to appear as though it was successfully installing via the load screen but not actually install? Any help offered would be greatly appreciated, and thank you for your time with this! Last edited by WellHungTurtle; 02-19-2016 at 06:07 PM. |

Fully restart your device, and try again.
I've very, very, very, very rarely (i.e., once) seen this happen. Most likely the fuse proxy getting its panties in a twist. Last edited by NiLuJe; 02-19-2016 at 08:19 PM. |

Be sure to 'safely remove' or 'eject' (whichever your OS calls it) after transferring a file.
Be sure to disconnect the USB cable before restarting. |

I had no success updating JB at my Kindle (K3W, FW 3.4.1) - error U007. My device has JB 0.11.N, SS 0.42.N, and physkeyb 3.4.6 installed. These hacks worked fine prior to the failed JB update attempt, and they still work fine after this attempt. What went wrong with update? Should I have done something else? Uninstall hacks/jailbreak?
And one more question: Is it safe to update my Kindle to 3.4.2 with JB and hacks currently installed? Thanks |

@PSGrabber: I honestly can't remember if you're supposed to be able to upgrade the JB on FW 3.x without uninstalling it first. According to my notes, you can't, which would track with what you experienced.
In any case, if you're using >= 0.11.N, you have no good reason to upgrade it to begin with, so there's that . My stuff is update-proof, but I can't speak for the keyboard stuff though. I vaguely seem to remember it being fairly FW-specific, but I might be wrong. |

"physkeyb 3.4.6 installed"
I can't recall what files that changes - I don't think I ever had it on my K3. Since K3s are bspatched - anything that touches system files might be in question. I would suggest the same, un-install everthing, then try the update again. |

Many thanks. I'll uninstall them all and try again
@NiLuJe: Sorry, it's my bad. Just misunderstood your post #3443 in this thread ("No need to uninstall anything to upgrade…") |

Hi guys!
I'm trying to get usertts working on my Kindle 3 running version 3.4.2, but when I try to update the jailbrake it stops and says: "Found another jailbreak, aborting...". Is there any way to detect which jailbreak may on my device be? I tinkered the last time more years ago with it, I have no idea what can cause this. Even though I could successfully install launchpad and the custom screensaver, I can't manage to get usertts working, the update button is grayed out when I place its update file to root of the Kindle. Thank you for your help! |

@Rimplot: That warning indicates that any of yifan's JB versions could be installed. So, try to see if the timing matches or if something rings a bell (links are at the top of the first post).
Be aware that their uninstallers are incomplete, and you will need to do a full restart of the device manually to put them in a usable state (JB-wise). |

@NiLuJe: Yeah, I think that was installed on it. Thanks, that was a useful information about the required manual restart, I couldn't imagine why is the update button grayed out.
Even though now at least I can see that it tries to do something, the process stops pretty fast and I always end up with the big exclamation mark and an "Update error: 3" sign in the bottom left corner. I tried to use both the uninstallers and the installers (I thought that after it updates I'll be able to delete it) from both the 0.4 and 0.51 version – the result is the same. I would be grateful if someone could help me to get rid of it... |
