Beerbohm, Max: Enoch Soames. v1. 21 Apr 2014
Sir Henry Maximilian "Max" Beerbohm (1872–1956); Seven Men, which includes "Enoch Soames" (1919).

"Enoch Soames" is a short story by the British writer Max Beerbohm in which he tells of the fate of his friend, an unsuccessful author he knew, who made a deal with the devil. The use of time travel and a nice twist ending make this a very enjoyable tale to read. The present edition is a conversion of BenG's LRF upload.

You'd be astounded at the number of books that are in the public domain in the U.S. that are going away to meet the life plus 70 rule. Books that can be found at Project Gutenberg, Internet Archive, and many other places.
