which browser
It seems that calibre automatically zips html files. My problem is that I want to be able to click on the 'zip' file and have the contents open up in my system default browser. Is this possible.

If you go to Prefs - Behaviour and find the list labelled 'Use internal viewer for' (right-hand side), you can uncheck the box for ZIP. Then when you use calibre to view the ZIP file it will open in whatever default program your operating system uses for ZIP files (e.g. WinRar, 7-zip, ...). You can then double click on the html file(s) inside and it will open in your default browser rather than the calibre Viewer.
At least, this works in Windows... |

(there may be 1 or more necessary text and image files in that archive) Sending a Zip file directly to your browser is not going to work well , which leaves out the 'Open With' plugin Then there is the problem of which file to open first (not all books have an Index.html). You can set the 'Open With' PI to unZIP and leave you to proceed from there. This leaves the Calibre default in place. |

Or you could try disabling the "HTML to ZIP" file type plugin. So you won't end up with a zip file in the first place. Will only work for self contained single html pages though, and leave you knackered for anything else.
