Hello from a would be Ebook reader
Hi, live in country Victoria, Australia and love reading but fussy about what I read. Hoping to find some good ideas as to the best Ebook which allows the purchase of the widest range of books. Also looking for technical help on how to download. Thanks, Val

Good to have your company, Valerian. You obviously realise that a lot depends on where you're located. We have many Australian members now. Let's hope one will have experience of using ebooks outside major centres and will be able to advise you. My own feeling (which might be wrong) is that wi-fi might be dodgy where you are and that it might be better to choose a simple, single-function device and make full use of PC or laptop based library software like the free and excellent Calibre. Good luck. Neil

Hi Valerian & welcome to MR.
The problem is not so much which reader to get, but where to get the books from. Unfortunately we are a little bit disadvantaged due to the geographical restrictions. But there are always ways. I have my reader since last year (Sept I think) and so far have managed to get most books I want without paying through my nose (as you would have if buying from Australian eBook stores). It really comes down to what you want from the reader. Check out the wiki for comparison and trowl the forum to see what other users have to say. Feel free to ask questions, lot of helpful people here and quite a few from downunder now. |
