I just checked out one of my books which i have in both EPUB and fb2 formats- my reader can read both of them without any problem. At the same time, EPUB has 9 zoom levels, fb2 - 5, EPUB also has a search option.
I guess i need to broaden my horizons

Cheers for the link on that. I usually read in Russian in PDF format but that is on my 505... as others said...I've found fb2 to be the best in Russian.

Do you have EZ reader 6" or 5" Pocket Pro? I have 6" and I have issues on mine with EPUB.

Thanks! I will check them out, though at this point I already have more books than I can reasonably read in the next few months :-).

convert to txt first

Caliber can convert only from EPUBs, FB2s and TXTs but not apparently from .DOCs.

Any solution on how to go from .DOC to FB2?

An interim solution that I had adopted for now is to convert .DOCs into PDFs but that has some reflow issues, too, although for some reason better than if I simply zoomed in on a .DOC file in EZReader.
Convert doc file to txt with line breaks first, then from txt to FB2, и ты дома!

Thanks, Alex! I will try your suggestion. Will I lose illustrations if I convert the document this way?

You lose all formatting (italics, bold, etc.) when you convert to txt. Better from .doc is to save as html or .rtf. Calibre has no problems converting those two formats and you save the formatting and illustrations that way.
