Cool keep amazon out

All right. Jailbreak on my kindle 3 wifi was successful. Many thanks to the people who made this possible!

Now I would like to use the wifi feature while not giving Amazon access to my device. The first thing, I suppose, will be to set a root password. - What else?

Read this massive thread. You'll have to pick out what bits are relevant to the K3 and what you need to adapt. The lat/long coordinates were only present in the original CDMA Kindle. The GSM modem in the newer Kindles doesn't do cell tower triangulation.

I don't think anybody has actually specifically listed what you need to change in the K3 firmware.
