Question: The operating system of DR need to be reinstall?

Another question:

I am looking into the operating system of 1000s, which seems use linux. Thus we can install third-party softwares to 1000s. However, if so, will the underlying system become slow or out of order where then an re-installation of system on 1000s is necessary?

Here you will find a list of apps that have been ported to the DR. There are two ways (current used) to install extra software for the DR, 1) only on the SD card, or 2) on the internal flash of the DR (with only a short-cut on the SD-card).
I am not aware that any of the ported problems caused any instabillity in the operating system. If this should happen however, you can re-install the lastest firmware, which will delete and rewrite the complete internal flash, so you would have a 'fresh' system again. This will also remove all programs that have been installed with method 2 explained above. (Only the short-cuts on the SD-card remain.)

actually, we do not touch the OS, in this DR, embedded Linux, it is 2.6 Kernel unless LINUX has new kernel and funtionalities or we would go to new OS such as WindowsCE or Android.

True, we are not replacing the kernel. I believe what yingwu is asking about though is in regards to flashing back to the factory image if there are any problems caused by third party applications. Not necessarily whether we can change/modify the version of linux itself.

At least, that was my interpretation of their question.
