Is there a trick to the page turn?

I have tried and tried and cannot get my pages to turn by "swiping" the lower part of the Nook. I wait until the light goes out and the small screen is black, then start swiping like mad. Once out of 25 tries I can get the Nook to turn a page backward, but never forward. Any ideas?

Don't swipe like you do with Windows Mobile, Palm, or iPhone!

Don't press hard, press lightly and swipe very quick and short, anywhere on the LCD.

The trick is swipe immediately as soon as you touch the screen, swipe quickly, and lightly. Work every time.

I have no problem at all. Everytime I swipe my screen I turn a page. Check my Nook video review, there you can see it. You have to wait a little while, since the eInk screen does not react as fast as the touch screen.

Check this video from 5:54 - 6:37 you see, how you can swipe the pages.

Page turns

Pretend you are lightly brushing a dust particle from the touch screen in a right to left motion.

Finger in motion BEFORE you touch the screen.
Finger still in motion when you lift it from the screen.
A light flick from RIGHT to LEFT (the opposite of what some would think)
(I flick my right thumb at a 45degree angle downward like the character / ) starting with my thumb resting lightly on the white bezel at the right, and ending on the white bezel on the bottom. The page turns 95+% of the time.

At first I thought I should put my finger on the screen, move it to the left, then lift it. That does not work. It must be one continuous movement.

I don't believe there is a problem with the page turning, but there is a problem with the instructions on how to do it. Maybe I will post a video when I have time.

I found if I lay my finger on the white plastic just off to the right of the touchscreen and swipe it works every time? That way my finger is actually moving when it hits the touchscreen.

Hope that helps...

I have found that it only works in books or something like that. I didn't find it worked on blogs or the instructions. Maybe that it?

I don’t know if it was intended to function this way; but I’ve noticed that swiping the dark gray bar between the LCD screen and the e-ink screen (left or right of the n and when the LCD is off) seems to always work the best for me. I first thought I must be touching the LCD at the same time, but after trying it with my hand over the e-ink screen it worked just as good.

I’d like to hear if it works for others.

I did the same thing - by accident - and recognized it worked all of the time ... so I use this method.

Thanks for a new tip. It works really well too. Just avoid the "n" area when swiping; otherwise "n" will fade over time?

There's also buttons on either side of the Nook to turn pages. I find these work every time.

I also can't turn the pages all the time with the swiping and it serves no purpose for me. so I just use the arrow buttons which work just fine for me

Do you have the newest firmware update, 1.2? The sensitivity is much better than prior versions.
