From 2010: http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/...tless-flights/ From 2011: http://www.smh.com.au/travel/travel-...0702-zru8.html Plenty more, and newer, out there. I like the term: vertical seats. What they need is to go with triple-bunk beds, like the Japanese capsule hotels. |

Just happened to fly to Miami and back this week. On the flight down, there was no mention of any policy change, on the flight back, they announced the change and told everyone they could ignore the "put all devices away" recorded announcement. It was nice. Off to SF next week.

BTW, again. I'm currently in San Francisco via Virgin America and, as of yesterday, they had not changed their policy. Still no devices allowed. Someone told me they saw a news article on why.

And doesn't it seem you never get to sit next to the "listener" in the conversation - it's always the one talking a mile-a-minute nonstop for the entire time. I never seem to find those folks who are just listening and throwing in an occasional "mm-hmmm", "yep".

If he/she is talking loud enough to be heard, then you were obviously meant to be part of the conversation. Look directly at the person talking and stop him/her every now and then by asking pertinent questions. As long as he/she keeps talking, you keep staring and asking questions. |

Since this person is kind enough to include me in his/her conversation, then it's only proper for me to return the favor and share my music (at the same volume level). AC/DC does wonders for frayed nerves. |

When it is you hauled off the plane by airport police for causing a disturbance, you might find that that your definition of "too loud" does not meet the reasonable person standard.
