Font, ScreenSaver & USBNetwork Hacks for Kindle 2.x, 3.x & 4.x

Hi,

I am hacking font for my newly bought kindle DXG, but I can't find the src directory in the downloaded kindle-fonts-5.12.N-k3.rar. Is it normal? Where can I get the corresponding font configuration files?

@wuminghg: It's not there because you don't need it.

That said, I'm not quite sure what you meant by 'font configuration files'.

I bought one Kindle DXG a few days ago.(B009, software is 2.5.8)
I have already update the system to V3.2.1. then I want to change the font.
I download the kindle-jailbreak-0.11.N.zip and kindle-fonts-5.12.N-k2.rar .
I got the *.bin file for dxg, first I used jailbreak to update kindle,but the software was not sucessful with error U0007,and I igored the error.
update the kindle use *.bin file for fonts.It was successful, and there are linkfonts/fonts directories now.

I replaced the font with the same filenames, and I create one zero file which named reboot, But the kindle didnt restart. then I restart the kindle from Menu.

After restart, My kindle didnt take the new fonts in account.

What is wrong with my operation?

The 3.x on DX thing has always been a weird thing to setup, do a search in this post, you'll probably have much more detailed answers that what I can barely remember, which is that you need to overwrite the linkfonts folder by the one from a k3 package.

When you unpack the .zip file, you should end up with a new folder named 'kindle-2.5-fonts-3.1.N'.

Inside this folder are the bunch of .bin files, and a folder named 'src'.

And now, inside this 'src' folder is our 'linkfonts' folder, and it's this last one you'll have to copy to the root of your Kindle. There's no folder to manually create anywhere .

I did nothing. It just show that :software update not successfull,then it restarted. Nothing happened.

Then I used the next .bin file to update kindle, this file work.

ah, then that error message was caused by the Kindle already being jail broken.

Yes, It seems that the Kindle already beijing jail broker.
But the fonts didnt take effect.

hi, How to get linkdfonts folder form k3/src.
I get the update_fonts_5.12.N_k3g_install.bin file, but i cant open this file to get the src/linkfonts.

I have trouble with sshd a try instal usbnet on kindle serial D01100 firmware 4.1.1
After instal kindle-usbnetwork-0.53.N-k4 i have no access over usbnet to ssh i can ping machine

Looks like you are pinging yourself.

Please post what IP address you have assigned to your PC ;
And what IP address you have set the Kindle to listen to in the USBnet config.
