**A new group in the Bay Area for people who love discussing ideas**
I’m assembling a group of people that love discussing ideas. My thought is that we would all meet periodically in a comfortable place with big comfortable chairs for an afternoon or evening of free-form talk. I could set up a private online forum after the first meeting where we could continue discussions.
I’d like to discuss everything from teenage obesity to the potential (or lack of it) for quantum computing. I would include philosophical topics (did Plato envision symbolic mathematics?) and the future possibilities for molecular genetics. What will Apple products look like in 4 years? How about the historical context of our current economic struggles (who will have money and what will they spend it on)? Is cancer a virtual life form in the sense that it has no singular taxonomy? Don’t like those topics? Bring your own! Right brain, left brain, equally welcome. All genders appreciated. Hey, maybe you’ll end up meeting your next best friend. My background is math and physics. My career was fitness related and involved biochemistry and computer programming. Leave a post here if you're interested. At the very least, my wife will provide lots of fun food. Mike |

I might like to drop in when I'm in the area.
Back in the days when I was childless, I used to meet weekly with a similar group. They had the effrontery to call themselves philosophers -- a bit pompous to me. But it was a great group and we were never at loss for a topic. |
