I have a number of Feist's books in ebook format, of course they are all DRMed. That's probably what changed his mind.

I don't think so. If I remember correctly, when I read his comment on this, he was well aware of DRM, but assumed that sooner or later the DRM scheme would be cracked, and then the darknet would no longer contain scanned, OCRed, and poorly spell-checked versions of his books, but hacked high quality e-books instead.
