Alt + T will show the time. If you're in a book, the time will be shown as words. It's so cool!

And... when you are in the menu, the Alt + T will show the time in this format: 00:00.

It isn't nearly as "renaissance" as the written time, but it gets the job done. The hand written time (i.e. "fourteen past ten") is much more imaginative and "book like". I wish they would have done that with the menu time too. It is little touches like this that make the Kindle "feel" so unique.

Yet another way to see the time:

Hit the Search button and enter @t (short for @time)

It will display the time in the format: Sat, Dec.29, 2007, 03:30 PM.

By the way, the Enter key (above the aA key) appears to be an alternative to hitting the roller button when the cursor is at the bottom.

with the Kindle 3, while you are reading, if you hit the "Menu" button" the time will show at the very top of the window.

Remember you first have to set (Kindle 3) the clock by going into Menu/Settings/page 2/Device Time set.
