Apple makes beautiful hardware, but they are a big Bully
the intentions of the retailer (not distributor) is in line with the eventual customer, us. They try and set standards to avoid getting garbage in from the author. In the case of Apple (and all the other retailers) they also know what their eBook Reader likes and what it cannot use. Customers complain the retailers and often this can result in returning money. I understand the reasons but sometimes there can be lame requirements. Most of the time the retailer whether it be Apple, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Kobo is actually attempting to provide a good experience for their customers.
