Asus Eee Tablet prototype photos
Some guy managed to get hold of ASUS' CEO, Jerry Shen at Computex and take some photos of the Eee Tablet prototype. Full article here (in Russian), but here's some highlights:

The pictures from that site are good -- best closeups I've seen. Really looking forward to the device. Thanks igorsk!

This actually looks kind of bland to me, though we'll have to wait to see how it performs.

It's looking like something that would suit -- if they get the software right.
Notepad, Calendar, Contacts, eBooks. Like a super-Palm. Plus, bonus, it's Linux. So even if it's wrong, it can be fixed. Want. cap |

Doesn't need to be groundbreaking. Needs to show some good design and function. If you're focused on meeting a functional niche instead of showing off, maybe, maybe it'll actually work.
I'm just hoping they spend some time on the firmware. And if not, that someone else will. It's a big enough company, maybe a decent fan-base will pop up. I'm not a fan of e-ink, and I love touchscreens. For organizing and ebook purposes, there aren't a lot of choices given those restrictions. I'm really hoping it ends up being responsive and that it works. cap |
