Sony's Reader: LaTeX and Linux.

Hi,

I'm looking for a way to generate ebooks for the Sony Portable Reader. What I'm looking for is a LaTeX/TeX template and a way to upload ebooks to the Reader from Linux.

I've read in some posts that someone from GOOG has coded something which works with fuse (userland filesystem), has anyone of you tried it? Is it open source?

What about LaTeX, did any of you generate some template that could later be used to produce a pdf (or some other format recognized by the ebook)?

Thank you,
Jerome

Look at feedbooks.net for latex based pdf generation.

It's feedbooks.com ;-)
Well what you really need in your LaTeX template is:
\geometry{paperwidth=90.00mm,paperheight=120.00mm}
Any template should be fine as long as you create a PDF in this size.

We produce e-books on the fly with LaTeX for Feedbooks this way.

Check this URL too: http://www.osresearch.net/wiki/index.php/EBook

(First post - hi)

I played with LaTeX and dvipdfm a while back and came up with some really nice settings.

Here's what I used for the last book I reformatted:

Quote:
\documentclass[10pt]{book}
\usepackage{avant}
\usepackage[paperwidth=90.6mm, paperheight=122.4mm, margin=2mm]{geometry}
\special{pdf: pagesize width 90.6truemm height 122.4truemm}
\renewcommand\familydefault{\sfdefault}
\setlength{\parskip}{1ex plus0.5ex minus0.2ex}

\begin{document}
\title{Coming up for air}
\author{George Orwell}
\date{}
\maketitle

\part{}

\chapter{}

\fontsize{9}{11}
\selectfont

The idea really came to me the day I got my new false teeth.
I messed with the font quite a lot before coming up with these settings! Despite producing a PDF at the end instead of one of the more "accepted" formats, I find this very readable.

read the doc for the latex geometry package - it is possible to ask it to embed the sizing special there for you,right from the paperwidth and peperheight you pass it
